SONATA FOR SOLO VIOLIN was composed in 1953 and was first performed by the Israeli violonist, Yossi Zivoni, in Tel Aviv in 1955. The sonata consists of an Introduction and a Chaconne. The development of the single melodic instrumental line is the idea underlying the whole work. As in the baroque chaconne, there is an ever-increasing degree of movement with each ensuing variation, until a climax is reached. A quiet coda brings the sonata to a close.
